whats the difference other than a inche well as long as its disk. Listen I'm a novice and trying to put this car together is a bit tuff. so I have no idea what this 8" or 9" mean.

came to the right place , sorry to use big words , alright our cars come with ford 8 inch rear ends , means thats a 8 inch ring gear inside your rearend...very nice rear end, pretty strong, really all that is needed unless yourall out hardcore drag racing, and the 9 inch has a 9 inch ring gear in side the rear end. 9 inch is super strong , very good for drag racing or any kinda motor sports, but if you look fast a 8 inch and a 9 inch looks the same , and rear disk conversion should work on either a 8 inch or 9 inch rear , basicly same.

just hang around youll learn something(y)

sure will (y). this car is not for drag. and as for the conversion I have to get a rearend that has disc or would I have to change the drums to disc. I just did the fronts to disc while the motor was out and monday I'll be adding the floor shifter since I just rebuilt the tranny. the motor and tranny came out of a 79 LTD. rebuilt both. with the help of self help books and my next door neighbor he a retired mechanic. but I'm doing the rest myself.:D
