whats the best weight??

    We use straight 30 weight HD oil for break in. Run the engine on the dyno or in the car with that oil. After break in, change the oil & filter. Go with 30 weight HD again for around 300-500 miles on a street engine. After that...change the filter and pour in the Royal Purple.

    I used Rotella 10w30 for my break in, just for it's high zinc content. Lot of oils lacking that these days.

    Thanks, your right.

    ***Go to the site below and click on the build sheet and you can see what he says about the oil etc. And the compression on this engine is 10 to 4. I have to go with what he is saying for obvious reasons.

    WHAT?! 10:4 holy crap! whats that 40:1 now thats a compression ratio :D

    Sorry, my bad.

    Static Compression 10.4:1 Other goodies on this bad boy. Roller/Solid lifters Comp Cam 838lb. Duration @ 50 242/248. Oh no, I'm in trouble. I just noticed this- Rod Journal Size 2.100" (chevy). Now my motor is ruined :yikes:

    For a new cam break in I always use straight 30 Shell Rotella and a bottle of GM EOS (engine oil supplement).
