I need to know if Lincoln Versailles front disc brakes are the same as original maverick front disk brakes. I know they fit but are they the same.

I put my new to me magnum 500 on my 72 maverick and the front brake calipers rub on the inside of the rims.

Ive Always Been Told That They're The Same Except For The Upper Ball Joint Hole.... Maybe They're Something That I Dont Know. But I Think I Also Remember Someone Mentioning That Some 14" Wheels Won't Clear Disc Calipers..
NOTE: POST 400 FOR ME :D

my 14x7 magnum 500's fit fine over my calipers, but I have a pair of 14x6 (original Motor Wheel version) that don't clear because the inside shape is different behind the hub.

A good rule of thumb is that if the car came with a certin size of wheel say 15" you can not put a smaller size on it due to caliper clearance. The calipers were designed for that size wheel and with few exceptions will a smaller one fit.

They are the same. It's an easy fix. I had the same problem when I did the swap 15 years ago. There is a casting ridge (raised area), rectangular in shape, on top of the caliper. Just use a die-grinder and remove the front and rear edge of the raised area. It doesn't take much. The 14-inch wheel will run very close to the caliper, but it will not make contact...(y)

my rims are 14 x 7. I can still turn the wheels , it's just a slite scrapeing. I think the grinding trick will work

Everyone so far has been correct... I know a 14x6 ranger wheel wont fit w/o rubbing... i have one that has a nice little grove in it due to this... (was either leave the car on side of highway, or let my buddy use it as a spare)

I have another set of 14x4.5 or 5's that will fit however.. kinda odd.
They are factory aluminum wheels from some old dodge is all i know

The Versailles spindles are identical to Granada spindles accept that the bottom ball joint mount hole is larger in diameter. These holes can be made usable with a set of adapters (mustangsteve.com, about $80).
