so i did an oil change sunday. after it was all done i noticet the plug was leaking so i pulled it out, seen how bad the threads were and replaced it but when i drained the new, fresh, unused oil out it was BLACK and looked just like the old oil that i had just drained:yikes: is this normal for old cars?

My oil is usually a non transparent brownish color when I change it. If the oil hasn't been changed often in the past few years, it may take several oil changes to get the gunk out.

i try to do it every 2-3 months in the less than a year i've had it. i know the car spent some time sitting before i got it but i wasnt expecting total blackness of the fresh oil. when i had the valve cover off there was no build up or gunk so i expected the bottom end to be in simular shape. im gonna drop the pan when it gets warm again and take a look.

are you burning oil ? blow by will cause it...but in such a short time that is wierd unless you had a while to change your oil and all it did was just discolor your new oil...dont sweat....its still new oil doing its job.
