    ordered my new gas tank from ...Advance Auto Parts...yesterday about 11:30 am and they said it will be here in the morning around 7:00 am. $188 :yup:


    my son noticed a wet spot on the bottom of mine. i checked it out and 'sho 'nuff it had a pin hole in it. being the car was on the lift it was easy to spot.(y)

    '76-'77 i have the straps but they sell them also. a new sending unit seal and nut comes with it. (y)

    what is the part number Frank? do you know the strap numbers? my car is a 73 and I need a new tank as well....

    Size, they became bigger in 75.
    A freind of mine used some POR15 silver (I think thats what it was) on his tank, and it looks like bare metal still after 5 years, too bad it's the nicest think on his car.

    what about a sending unit for this tank? that will be usuable on my 73?

    Question: pre-'75 tanks are already tight with dual exhaust especially with the sending unit on the side. Is it on the side on the later tanks? Is it bigger in bigger in width as well as length or depth?

    where the tank tapers up on the bottom of the early tank...the later ('76-'77) don't have but a little.:yup: thats why the straps are longer. i had no problem with the install on mine.(y)

    So, the rear valence does not touch? It was tight on my '74 tank(I did the small bumper swap). I swithced to a '65-'68 Mustang tank per Dennis' guidelines.

    If you bought a new tank...., why bother with trying to seal a leak? Send it back and get one that is right.
