I am Looking to buy some speakers for a '76 Mav. It already have some decent 6x9's in the back I do not have ready acsess to the car as it belongs to a friend But I have noticed that there are two facory speakers just in front of the doors on the walls under the dash. Does anyone know what size speakers fit in those mounts. I understand the depth issues are harder to deal with but I'm not looking to put heavy speakers in just somthing decent so that the sound is more even in the car. Thanks HNH
What I did... I would think that the 5-1/4 would fit like gold. I put 6" in mine, but there ended up being a little hole near the top of the kick panel mounting just because of the size of the hole I cut and the way the kick panel is mounted. (Sorry, no pic.) As you already know, the brand and price would be up to you and what you are looking for out of your music. Just in case you were curious, here's what I have. I don't remember the model numbers, though... Sony XM-ready head unit (2-remotes, no use for one) Pioneer 6" in kickpanels MB Quart 6"x9"s in rear deck Phoenix Gold wiring Phoenix Gold running the 4-channels Twin 12" Infinity subs with JBL running them. Bests, Atzy.
