    headers

There are a few maker of headers, that include hooker, hedman, and flow tech, summit also makes them for it. For my car i went with the hedman, they work ok and dont leak, and can get them for around $130 a pair. As for as installing them, i wound up bolting them to my engine and then dropped the engine in when i installed the engine to, because i couldnt get mine in any way else, im sure there are ways though. Oh and of its a colum shift automatic car, then the shifter linkage is in the way and your going to have to loose that and make it a floor shifter.... Also if its a power steering car, then you will need to get the power assist ram drop bracket so that will clear the headers, thats available through hedman, thats the problems that i ran into with my car, but it was well worth it. good luck to you with your headers.:thumbs2:

If you have some time you can modify your column shifter bracket to make it work with the hookers. I started modifying the one i had this past saturday, and hope to be able to finish it when i get back on it this weekend. If so i will take some pictures to share.

    I have used many types.
    Hooker 6901s are my best.

One thing about headers, they don't really wear out.
They rust, dent, and sometimes crack, but you can clearly see all these things.
They also sell used for far less than new.
So, I would find a good set of used myself.
Just make sure they are not rusted through, dented, or cracked...
The paint sux on headers when new and the makers even recommend you strip and paint them well, so it's pretty much the same thing to get good used tubes and paint them. They look the same when done!

i've got the hooker 6201's. they go in from underneath. the drivers side has to have the engine lifted a couple of inches and the passenger side goes in okay even with the starter already in. i don't know anyone that has made the summit headers fit. i sent mine back and so did some others. do a search on headers in the search forum.:)

i installed my hooker 6901's and didn't have any problems at all. didn't even have to jack the driver's side engine up (which made me very happy :D)
