I,m glad to be here. I've been reading post's on this site for a while, and I'm happy to see all the good info on making my maverick . I have a 70 maverick that is in real good shape, for being 37yrs old. Was a I6 till I found a 302 for a hundred bucks, and its a 69 block. since I've bought it it's been bored .040 and I've installed cast Speed Pro Flattops & Clevite 77 main & rod bearings. Thats were I'm at now. V8 mounts came with the car. I'm trying to figure the perfect cam for the car. manual steering, manual drum brakes, 3.08 8inch rear C4 tranny W/V8 belhousing. This one's still on the stands, & I want it to be on the road by summer.
If your engine is running basically stock iron heads you can't go wrong using a matching cam/intake like the Edelbrock Performer set and a 600 cfm or smaller carb. 'Specially with the 3.08 gears you want to make a lot of low rpm torque.
