    I posted this in special topics but thought it needed to be here so its easier to find for everyone. the one they don't have is the maverick if somebody lets me know the width i will add it.




    Ford Axle Widths:

    65-66 Mustang 57.25 inches

    67-70 Mustang 59.25 inches

    71-73 Mustang 61.25 inches

    77-81 Versailles 58.50 inches

    67-73 Mustang, Torino, Ranchero, Fairlane 9" 59.25 inches to 61.25 inches

    57-59 Ranchero and station wagon rears, 57.25 inches

    66-77 Bronco 9", 58 inches

    77-81 Granada/Versailles, 58 inches

    67-71 Comet, Cougar, Mustang, Fairlane, 59.25 inches

    71-73 Mustang, 61.25 inches

    64 Falcon 58 inches

    67 Cougar 60 inches

    67 Fairlane 63.50 inches (coil springs)

    72 Ford Van 3/4 ton 68 inches

    73-86 65.25 inches

    57-59 Ranchero and station wagon 57.25 iches (narrowest 9" housing)

    66-77 Bronco 58 inches but has 5-on-5 1/2 inch diameter bolt circle

    67-73 Torinos, Rancheros, Fairlanes 59.25 inches or 61.25 inches

    67-71 Comets, Cougars, Fairlanes 59.25 inches

    79-93 Mustang 7.5 and 8.8 57 inches

    Lincoln Mark7 LSC, SVO Mustang and Fox Body Saleens use a 59.5 inch wide rear axle

    94-98 Mustangs use a 58.5 inch wide rear axle

    99 and newer Mustangs use a 59 7/8 inch wide rear axle

    sorry for the incorrect info i just found it on a mustang fourm and thought it was the right stuff and it would help some guys out. Thanks for the correct info!!!!!!:bowdown:

    well thanks for the correct info. because if somebody would have bought a rearend going by some of those listed and it not fit I would have probley been getting alot of pm with alot of not so nice words words so thanks for the help. Thats why I like this fourm there is alot of knoldge here. and everybody likes to have fun:dance:

    Also a factor is the spring perch widths. Even thou the axle housing is the same width, the spring perches can be differnet. But those are easy to change.

    That is all really neat information, but it mentions nothing about our stock Maverick/Comet rearend sizes:hmmm:

    1970 Maverick - Modified Small Block, 4-Bbl, C4 auto.
    I believe your looking for hedman # 88300 for 289/302. They allegedly fit a '70-'74 Maverick. They are also for a '64-'73 Mustang. Youn can pick up a set from DHP @ 1-800 444-7373. In stock (usually) with free shipping. They do price matching of any nationally advertised price so I'm told.

    I just purchased a 79 granada. for rear end and disk brakes, the rear end loads from rear what rear is this? as I uderstand the front disk brakes will change to my 70 mod. maverick, Is there any thing special I should know.

    If it has the rear cover, it is an early relative to the 7.5" and 8.8" used in later Fox body cars and Ranger pickups.
    I think it is an 8.4" ring gear, but not really sure.
    It would bolt into your car I'm sure. Any other Granada rear would.
    However there is no advantage to it, unless maybe you broke your stock rear and just wanted a spare to bolt in and get you by until you can do it right.
