    Kurt,
Most Ford bucket seats from the 70's use the same frame. The differences are in the foam, covers and tracks. As long as you don't have a later Maverick/Comet with a catalytic converter you can get them to fit. If you have the converter hump in the passenger side floor the inside of the passenger seat should be notched to fit. Ford Granada, Lincoln Versailles amd Mercury Monarch seats from cataltytic converter cars will bolt right in.
I'll be coming up to Maine soon so I'll give you a call.
    Fred

I was looking at the uphostrey kits for the Torino convt myself... thinking that these covers ( offered by Dearborn Classics & Auto Krafters ) might be the right size (?) The pattern is close enough but I was really thinking the convt back seat would be closer in size than anything else available... Anybody know?

Hardtops would definitely be too wide. Now that we've had some nice weather, I uncovered the 71 Torino convt. and measured the seats to see if a set of seat covers would fit the rear seat... Not even close... so back to the drawing board.:banghead::cussing::slap:

I just stumbled across some high-back bucket seats that are almost identical to 71-73 mach 1 mustang seats: OUT OF A PINTO! They are sweeeet, but they need to be reupholstered. PLUS, the price is much cheaper, just due to the fact that they're out of a pinto instead of a Mach 1.

You should try looking in some junkyards, that's where I found these!

Why worry about buying expensive a$$ upholstery, and then have to pay someone to graft it over the seat??

I have a guy in my town that puts new foam in and makes the seat upholstery from scratch... maybe $250 per seat I think he said... and I know that upholstery sets for specific seats aren't much cheaper!

I believe the Pinto seats are narrower than the Maverick/Mustang seats.

Agreed with one poster, you can have a good upholstery shop will not care... and do from scratch.

CometKurt, if you are looking at the same Torino seats I saw on FM, you can have them. Just looking at Torinos for that year they look too big, bulky, and not tall enoug in my opinion to look right in a Maverick. I passed on them. Not even an option if I can't find something else.

There's a guy, my comet gt, that has the look I am after. These seats look good in Mavs in my opinion. I have seen the same seats in black and they really do look nice.

FYI a 73 Grabber would have had a standard flat hood with the graphics. 71 and 72 were the only years that had a unique scooped hood.
