so i bought my maverick with a cracked windshiled...thinking i would be ok to replace, i called up a few places and they can't seem to find one. any ideas where i can find someone to install it, or atleast some glass for my maverick(1972 2 door) preferably in the nnew york area(orange county to be specific)
safelite auto glass can get it... at least they could when i was back in arizona.. they wanted like 250 bucks installed i found it cheaper at a mom and pop glass place.. i got it installed, glass and the weather strip for 140 bucks in 2004
yea, i called auto safelite and they can't get them, time to start lookin for mom and pop glass places...thanx 4 the tip
so i called around, and no one had them, THE LAST NUMBER in the phone book for auto glas thinks they have one...there gonna call me back, and it's 50 bucks cheaper than the first place...hopefully they have it
I bought one #DW00797GBN from PPG Auto Glass Vintage Counter Sales 905 41st. ave Dr. SW Cedar Rapids Ia. 52404 on 7-13-06. It was a shaded one and has worked very well. Check www.ppgautoglass.com. Good Luck
the company i called didn't have one in stock, but they did order one and it will be installed monday
i own a autoglass company here in alabama the mavs windshield are still available wish ya were closer i would have sold it to ya at cost
another bit of info if youre maverick has the original windshield the glass was a true 1/4 inch thick youre replacement will be 3/16 thick so you will want to use a new gasket that accepts the 3/16 glass and use lots and lots of lquid butyl sealer or it will leak like a submarine with a screen door in it
So since you are a glass expert....I would really like for you to start a seperate post on how to properly install glass in a Maverick. Seems like it is a common discussion on here.
I wonder if the Windshield rubber seals that AK sells are of the 3/16" variety or the original 1/4" ones? Now that the glass thickness can-o-worms has been opened, how thick is the glass for the rear? Stock and aftermarket. This one is directed more towards all4glass
I got my new gaskets from AK and had no trouble installing the new windshield or the old back glass. No Leaks, No Drips, No Errors Perfect!
I need a new winshield for my Mav also. There is a company here called Maverick auto glass, they have them for $150 installed last I checked. Just got a nice crack in my Cherokee today too so now I need 2 windshields, maybe I can get a deal.
