I thought you already were cranky...oh, wait...my bad. I see now you were referring to the engine. It looks good and it should be cranky.

How hard would it be to swap a totally stock 302 to that alternator?
    Is it internally reg'd?
    Would the stock brackets/pulleys work?

I have never liked the stock external reg'd system, and they never seem to charge well.

    Thx
    Dave

    Oh yeah...
If I got to the parts house, what do I ask for to get a good one that will work?
What year, model, engine, amperage, etc...

Looking great Frank, leave us know how the new conveter works with the AOD, got mine down to redoing driveshaft and crossmember, had to do the same as you on headers cut the colectors and move out a bit to clear bellhousing, getting there slow be sure.

Dave; Frank and I changed mine (totally stock 302). I used the alt. from a 1998-2002 F400-F900 medium duty truck. It is 95 amp, and has the same housing and mounts the same way. It is a three wire. If I can't find the diagram, Frank has it. Works well, makes everything work much better. Good luck, and let us know.

I am doing almost the same thing that Frank is doing (almost). The weather has finally warmed up, and I will be painting the engine compartment this week. I'll take pics of it as well, as I progress.

    Frank is my hero...

Good luck, T.L. That is a time consuming and dirty job, that pays off big in the long run.
