I currently use 15x7 with 3.75 backspacing and 245/60s fit great. I'm thinking about changing rims and thought I would see what others thought. My 1974 Mav is stock in appearance except for the comet hood scoop and 1 3/4 inch front bumper slide. I could go with the pro touring 17 inch look or 15 x 7 vintage magnum 500s. What do you guys think?

The Magnums look great, but be advised that the backspacing is 4-1/4". 245s rub on my leaf springs and inner frame-rail. 235 is the widest I can get on there without a wider rearend or spacers...

I would definitely go with the 15 inch Magnums over the other wheels.

I would go with the 17 or even 18s, but that's just me, it's your car and those two choices are pretty different so look around til you find something that you will truly like.(y)

TL, you are right. The only BS in the 15x7 Magnum 500s is 4.25. On my car the 3.75 is ideal giving equal space on either side. I guess I'll have to determine if I want to add a spacer or not.

Or a Granada rearend (I'm still looking for one of those), which would push the rear wheels outward by 3/4-inch on each side...

I agree with RADMAV, it really depends on what your wanting.
IMO wheels really set the attitude of a car.

I check on a custom set of magnum 500s for my maverick and they told me because of the design of the wheel 4in back spacing is as good as they could do on a 15x8 wheel

I wonder if they can go 3 3/4 on the 15 x7. What company did you contact?
