I can't believe it. After seeing only a few Mavericks around here in the last year or so, this weekend I've seen 6 of them! I saw a 71 or 72 that looked really good on the street on Friday. Then Friday evening I went to Firebird Raceway and saw two of them out there. On Saturday I went to Speedworld and ran in to no less than 3 more of them! How great is that?! There may not be a ton of these, but the guys that have them are racing and doing us proud out here in Arizona! Now I can't wait to get mine running again. And to think when mine was running I never really appreciated it.

Dang, sorry I missed you Don. I would have liked to have gone to Firebird on Saturday but I was committed to helping out with a fuel car for the nostalgia races at Speedworld. One of the Mavericks at Speedworld was supposed to be running 9's. Sadly I didn't get to see him run, we had our hands full with our car. I want to say that the guys name was Manning? Have you heard of him? It was a blue Maverick, a nice guy. We talked for quite a while.

I've met that guy too Don. Can't remember his name though...I'm so bad with names. There was a red Grabber on Saturday at Speedworld, I noticed he had a 4 lug setup. Kept meaning to talk to him to see if he wanted to change to 5 lug (I have all that stuff off my car), but never got the chance. That was a busy weekend. I ended up spending most of Sunday just recovering.

Simon, I can relate...I spent the last 13 years in Minnesota. It's good to be back in AZ and able to race year round. GREAT GEARS BATMAN! You've gotta love that! It's going to change the whole personality of your car. Have fun with it!

That was me with the red ( actually orange ) 4-lug Maverick. Thanks for thinking of me, but I already have a 5-lug rearend I am rebuilding and will be putting in within the next month. I'm going to 3.55 locker for the street. :drive:

i am enjoying the gears very much..

i dont notice any difference when i drive on the streets.. except that the rpms are higher in 3rd driving in traffic.. but not much.. instead of 1400 now its 2000.. so its a little louder....

    but

when i get on it.. OMG.. a lot more noticeable.. and i am scared now.. because when i hammer it.. i feel the back end get squirrely.. mini spool.. so my steering wheel gets more use.. i think i need a bigger steering wheel now.. easier to handle the car i think... and i have noticed that my front suspension needs work as well

Let us all know how the new gears affect your et's! Do you still have street tires or have you gone to either a drag radial or some kind of et street tire yet? You're going to need some extra traction most likely. When will you be going to the track?

Hey Gene, if you want to match the front and rear I've got the 5 lug drums too. Just a thought. Oh and I'd like to add, nice car Gene!

Yeah, isn't that the case Simon? One thing just leads to the next. I'm in the process right now of building roller spring perches and heim joint lower struts. It's just the dominoe effect I guess.
