So do you just clean the area and then spray on the bullet? Also its sold in quarts so does this mean it can be sprayed in an HVLP gun? The pics look great, and provide much inspiration for my next project, which is lining the trunk and the stripped floor....Later brett
Yep...I imagine the cleaner the better and remove what rust you can. I sprayed mine out of a detail gun and brushed it on in other places, it leaves a nice finish. Put on enough to make sure it can soak into the rust. Good luck with the project....keep us informed with more pics, it looks like you have been busy.
So does the paint require a reducer to flow through the gun ok? I only have a 1.6 tip and that slick sand stuff we sprayed yesterday had a really tought time going through a 2.0 tip...thanks for the info J... Brett
jpollard, how much Rust Bullet did you end up using, and how is it holding up on your test piece? Also did you have to rough it up before putting the Rhino liner overtop? The stuff's not cheap up here at $155 CDN a gallon, but if it works it'd be worth it.
I used about a gallon for everything with next to nothing left over. I also did my gas tank, bell housing, steering box, and master cylinder. So far it is holding up well. No, I didnt scuff the rust bullet before I sprayed on the liner. It seems to stick pretty good. No, its not cheap! Spray it on if you can, it seems to go farther. Good luck.... JP

Rust Bullet update Hi guys, I cant believe it has been 3 years since I updated this post. Time flies. I haven't been on here much in the last 2 years, it has been a pretty hectic time but I often think of everyone on here and check it out every month or so. I couldn't have built my Mav without the members on this board. Ok..on to the Rust Bullet. So far this stuff has held up great!! I put a patch of it on my differential without any prep of any kind, just straight over the rust. It looks today like the day I put it on, I am impressed. Most of the rest of the Rust Bullet is under paint or rhino lining so I cant tell exactly what is going on there but I see no problems. The paint and lining have held on to it and no rust bubbles are visible anywhere. I would have to recommend Rust Bullet but you have to remember my car is garage kept most of the time and only sees bad weather once in a while. I attached a pic from last summer. I will get more taken and posted this summer. I am going to try and get it on the Mav calendar if there is one this coming year. I have moved to Montana since I finished the Mav. If anyone is ever up this way, please let me know and stop by. Hopefully you will be seeing a lot more of the Mav but I will keep that under my hat for now.
