my friend just bought a rust free '66 cheve!!e with a straight 6, 250 ci. i believe. anyway he wants to keep it and have a full perfoormance rebuild done, just for the coolness factor. i kinda have to agree. who needs to see another SBC powered GM 2dr?:hmmm:

    back to the fords(y)

i think the new aluminum head will come in around $1500, ready to run. which may seem high but by the time your done having a stock or aussie head rebuild to simular specs you'll probably be in that deep with an iron head. if your serious about making power i'd definatly look into those. theres guys running 300+hp with those heads on fordsix.com. with a thousand inyour budget and you can probably get a header, used carb and probably a cam.

Hey Max Power and newtoford, I can relate to those engines. I had a '69 Nova with a 230 inline six and popped headers and a 4bbl Holley 390 on an Offy intake. Same suggestions were made to me to "swap in a 350." But I said to myself,"It may be cheaper, or easier, to swap. But the look on peoples faces when they see that straight six under the hood is priceless!" And now that I'm venturing into the Ford universe, same logic applies. Yes, the 302 or 351 might be cheaper and easier to do. But I still love that look of,"Wow! A straight six!"

Just gotta run with a different crowd now and again!
