I have a set left over from my 1964 Fairlane, I went to a set of Hooker Super Comps. I have a spare GT40P headed 302 from an Explorer, but I am aware of the problems with getting a header to fit. I haven't pulled the engine from the Explorer yet, as it is still a running vehicle that I can move around right now and I don't want to tear it apart until I know I can work something out!

    '64 Hi po heads

They work just fine. Depending on what cyl. head U have now and it's combustion chamber size. Will let U know how much of a compression increase U will have when installing the Hi po heads. An idea! you might want to list those Hi po heads for sale. they bring a high dollar for restos. Especially 1964. with the money you can get a set of roush 180cc or 200cc cast iron heads, or alum. heads. Either head will breath better than a stock Hi Po on the exhaust side because the exhaust runners are reshaped yet still exit at the stock exhaust port location.
    GOOD LUCK

    headers

Cast iron HEADERS, not HEADS. I have a set of the Cast iron headers for a HiPo 289 in a Fairlane. The engine I am looking at swapping in has GT40P heads on it, which have a different spark plug angle.

If I remember correctly, they don't protrude out very much which would be the main issue so they should be okay. I've tried other exhaust manifolds before and they hit the shock tower so I had to find Maverick specific ones. The outlet may be an issue but you'll just have to test fit and see what happens.

    headers

Fairlanes are really tight around the shock towers as well... and you think finding headers is tough for a Maverick, there is only ONE set for a Fairlane! By the time there were coated by Jet Hot, I had nearly $600 in the headers!

If the cast iron headers fit, I may send them to Extrude Hone to bore them out and get the flow up on them...

    I haven't tried myself...
However, I have heard that the passenger side hits the firewall.
Even though Fairlanes, Falcons, and early Stangs have narrow engine bays like ours, they are not as short. Short as in distance from rad support to firewall.

Personally I would love to hear once and for all if they fit.
I forgot who told me they didn't fit, but I do remember that it was a very credible source. Someone who would have known, or I wouldn't have stored that tid-bit of knowledge.

    Try and let us know!

I had them on my car for a year and they do work with gt40p heads. The negative using them is the largest size exhaust pipe that you can use at the manifold flang connection is 2" , I used a 2 1/4" H pipe setup for a 67 mustang and had to cut out about 1" or 2 so it would not hit the firewall, even though it was a 2 1/4" H pipe that you can buy at any mustang place they weld 2" pipe ends on it for the flange clamp, kinda restrictive.

Mustang II manifold does work on the passenger side. Keep the maverick manifold on the drivers side. It is the same as the mustang hipo manifold.
