I spotted a 72 sprint maverick in town here, and its in sad shape. Has a 70 Mustang style scoop on it, which actually looks pretty good on it. Has a "289" in it according to the owner. Turns over, but dont start. Half dismantled, and worse than anything, NO TITLE!!!!!!!
Now my questions, were sprints just a paint and tape option, or were there specific engine/tranny/interior options. This is a definate sprint, as you can still see the USA shield under the "next" coat of paint.
What is an approximate price for a junker sprint? Thanks. 1970grabber

i bought my sprint with a running 6 cylinder, converted to 5 lug rear and front disc brakes for $800. only rust was the drivers side floor, window seal leaked. dennis martin, aka mavaholic is the authority here on sprints and also has the sprint registry.:)

Sprints were just an appearance option. They were no diffrent then any other '72 Maverick mechanically.

It would be hard to guesstimate it's value without pictures. I wouldn't let the title slow me down from buying it, but then again cars this old don't have titles in GA. Our '72 daily driver has an expired title that would be a whole can of worms to try and get registered elsewhere I hear.

If you don't buy it, at least get the VIN and all the info off the sticker inside the drivers side door jam for Mavaholic to add it to the Sprint registry.

if the car's not wanted by the police you should be able to get a replacment title. just get a bill of sale. i think all sprints have the white bucket interior and they all have the same paint job on the exterior. as far as under the hood you can have anything, i6, v8, auto, manual. the sprint package has nothing to do with performance, its looks only. if its beat its probably not worth much more than a standard maverick in the same condition.

    good luck

    The Sprint option is cosmetic.
If the cosmetics are shot, so is the added value, unless you have the entire car.

As long as a bill of sale is provided, many states do not use titles for cars that old. So if your state does, you may want to aid another member from a title friendly state obtain the car. If it can be saved...

Definately get the numbers off the door jam for the registry.

No Sprints ever came with bucket seats.

All Sprints have an interior code of : RB

This is the way you verify it is a Sprint.

Thanks gents. Will try to take some pics today if possible. Wont be much of a picture, as its hidden away now due to city codes. (and I am a city guy, lol) Its been a year or so since he had it out and we could see stuff, but then an ordinance issue made him "get rid of it". Its well camoflaged. Thanks. 1970grabber
