ive done that swap. its pretty simple. you need a carb, adapter plate, a few nuts and bolts, new pump to carb fule line and air cleaner. i got the carb and plate used for $50, all together it costed about $70 and an afternoon. i used a HW5200 progressive 2bbl, the 2300 is also a popular alternative but the instilation is a little more involved i believe. the adapter plate is about $30 from summitracing.com

heres a thread about my swap, pics included i think

This sounds interesting. I have the stock Carter 2 bbl that came off my truck's 302. What kind of performance changes should I expect?

I'm guessing that since it is not a progressive, that the mileage will drop off a bit. Right now that may be a ($$$) problem.

for a stock motor and using an adapter plate and not directly mounting it you probably shouldnt go over 300-400 cfm. i gained slightly better aceleration, smother idle and its able to feed higher rpms alot better. crusised 70mph no prob al like 1/4 throttle. a non-progressive carb would probably accelerate better but with the 5200 i can get the same mpg if im light on the throttle. but unless you get a cam and headers going dont expect to be beating v8's

i dont really know about those... all the guys over on fordsix usually just stick with the HW5200 or the holley 2300 in 350 or 500 cfm. inless you mill the head i'd use the 5200
