Im wanting to retain the look and feel of the stock suspension without dropping alot of coin to make it perfect for a drag car ie good header clearance and no bump steer...Heres my Idea...

Mount a coilover shock set up off the lower control arm and shorten and move the upper control arm outward toward the frame rail,so you can remove or cut out the stock control arm reliefs and also remove the the upper shock mount ....Ill post pics as I do it...Im going to custom fab the upper and lower control arm and shock mount..but retain what looks like a stock front suspension, hopefully for under a grand in parts..

I would love to see pics of the progress as I am also trying to figure out a better and modern suspension setup for not alot of money. I was thinking of using fox mustang parts as I can get them for low at the upick salvage yards around here.

    Coil over mods

Steve H did this on his car back about 4 years ago. Here is a link to the archives that show the finished product.

There are several other posts showing details of what he used for upper control arms and brackets as well as sources and a partial part number list.

I have sent him a PM asking for more details on the build and his impressions of the change after several years of use. I hope he will post more information here as time permits him.
