Hi guys. Yes- the Brazillian parts will now be flowing freely to the US! Hoozah! lol. (y)

The billit grills are pricey- particularly taking shipping into consideration... However, we'll see how much of a discount I can get after I establish a business relationship with my supplier... he is already discounting my cost on the fiberglass front aprons because A) I am buying them in quantity and B) I write to him in his own language and read the same, etc.

Just for informational purposes- here is a link to a grill on Brazillian Ebay- note the price: $480 (thats "Reais" guys, aka Brazil dollars) that equates exactly to $247.77 in US funds... before shipping.

My cost on that will end up being lower- but not by much (yet).

I'm happy to help in any way I can if someone has their heart set on a particular part in Central/South America... I have thus far seen ads for NUMEROUS grabber hoods- all under $400 bucks US... among other things.

The billet grill I was refering to was around R$400 and it also came with a billet lower grill that goes between the bumper/front valance. I just got through looking through their ebay and couldnt find one ATM but the next time I see one I'll post it up.

yea- if you want a good laugh, try and translate one of the web pages using any of the free translation services available online (babel fish, etc) LMFAO DO NOT try and write to someone in a different country using those! You'll end up telling him to go and poon his relatives, lmao!!:rofl2:

Heya Jamie- I just asked the guys over at the Pinto Performance board- they all agree: a 2.3L motor is a direct bolt in in a 74 or newer Pinto... This makes me think that the 74 or newer pinto motor mounts (available on ebay and elsewhere) will bolt into the mav and allow the use of that 2.3 motor? Just a thought- I'm no Pinto-to-Maverick parts interchange expert.

As an aside- there a a load of guys on there who put the 2.3L turbo coupe motor into a pinto and apparently they're sick on the street. I'm not a huge Pinto fan, but anything weighing 2000lbs with a motor that makes power is OK by me. ;)
    lol

The Pinto is a totally diffrent car, the entire suspension and structure of the body is nowhere close to a Maverick. Mavericks came from the Falcon, like the Mustang.

I also wanted to know if any of these parts can be re-produced over here in the US. That billet grill should not be too hard to duplicate. If someone can find someone that's in the business. There used to be a guy close to me that made grills, but he moved and I am not sure where he is now.

That, to me seems like the easier option... rather than constantly relying on (1) person to get these parts here and who knows what the mark-up or prices really are being the language barrier etc. We shoudkl work on getting those parts made here as well. Should not be too difficult if someone wants to take the horn.

Exactly. From a business standpoint- it makes no sense for me to purchase a component that I can reproduce here myself. I probably wouldn't want to get into the grills- too much setup/ work to offset the infrequent orders I would get for it... but the fiberglass is another story... I used to work with glass myself- i am 100% positive I could make a mold and pop those aprons out with abandon. Honestly- there is approx. $16 worth of actual material in that front air dam. (if you buy fabric/gel coat in bulk, etc)

    we'll see how it goes.
