I have been trying to get my 200 CID running and have not had any luck. First, it wasn't turning over very quick at all, so I changed the starter. Then, it turned real good. After that, I didn't get any spark on the points. I changed the coil, the points, and the condenser. I made sure to set the points correctly. Now, I am still not getting spark. Is there something I am overlooking? Any information would be more than helpful.
Points are shipped with a coating that prvents oxidation. You should always burnish the point contacts with a piece of thick paper (like a matchbook cover) before you install them to cleean the coating off. Did you measure voltage at the contacts or at the coil? - if you measured voltage at the movable contact and you are not getting spark then your points and condenser are not properly grounded. There is a ground wire that goes from the breaker plate to the fixed contact of the points. Make sure it is there and not shorting the movable contact. If you get power to both sides of the coil but no spark - and the points are clean - the wire can be broken inside the insulation or at the terminal that connects to the points. Check and repair discrepancy.
