Well what size tire is every1 suggesting I use. :hmmm: My 302 with 9.0 compression- RPM Performer heads,230 duration at 50, 512 lift cam. 600 holly with mechanical secondarys, magnum roller rockers and push rods. 380 with a spool. 2800 convertor and the good BM trans kit. Line lock. 15/7 or 15/8 rims with 3 3/4 offset. Rite now I have 275/60/15 TA radials and no clearance problems. Want to use the M T ET street radials at 14-18# on the strip. thanks to all in advance. RON

ron, i use the M/T et street drag radials that are 275/50/15 and i run them at 19#. they are great. feel real secure at the top end. i would not go near the 14# mark unless i was using the regular M/T et streets. the radials are designed to be run at a higher pressure. i use a 4:33 rear gear and 4500 stall convertor.:)

the 275/50/15 are only a 26' tall tire but they seem to work for me. course i do leave at a pretty slow rpm. about 2000-2200. my tires stick out a little and a taller tire would hit the metal. one of these days i'll change out that mustang 9". and put one of the narrower ones i have in there.:)

From what I was taught, if you want to go the fastest, use the narrowest slick you can get away with (9" would work fine for you).

I too like the idea of running the safer radials, but we pay a "rotating weight" penalty as it is a much heavier tire - slower e.t.

For best consistency, the widest slick you can fit under your car is the bestest - again, you give up e.t. though.

    My :2cents:

Thanks Rick. originally I was goin to use a 9 in slick(hooser) but got swayed to the 10 in MT. Might go with a 235/60/15 MT that is 8 1/2 wide tire, 26 in tall. Then work with the tire pressure.:D

I,m now thinking of --255/60/15 MT ET street radial..27.1 in tall. 8.8 tread width.10.7 thru the side wall. As per my previous mess. , my 275/60/15 comp TA,s are 10.5 thru the section with a 15/7 rim. now I hope to have traction with these ETstreet radials.

ron, i think you'll be happy with them. they use a smaller burnout and, JMO, they seem to last longer.:)

i agree with the small burnout. my brother likes to cover the car in smoke and when we used the radials they only lasted like three months. needless to say we now dont use them because of that but the were faster than the et streets and there was also no wobble in the back end at the top end of the track.
