ok so i found some 5 lug drums...and i have 4 lug...

    do i need new spindles or can i just switch out the drums?

    You'll need the spindles, since yours only have 4 studs.

    The 5 lugs have larger bearings on a larger spindle.

    That said, you might be able to go to an industrial bearing supply with detailed measurements and buy bearings with an OD to fit the drum, and ID to fit the spindle.
    I would bet you could find that bearing...
    It would be an easy fix.
    I might not use that sort of thing for HD use, but just cruzin around in a mild Mav, probably wouldn't hurt a thing.
    The 4 lug spindles are plenty strong enough to drive on, or they wouldn't be in use.

    are you going disk in the front? if not whats the point of going from 4 lug drums to 5 lug drums?

    Well, you can find cool rims much more easily.

    I have a friend with a four-lug mustang and he says he cannot find mag wheels worth having to go on it.

    Depends what the 5-lug drums, hubs, and backing plates are off of, they may fit your spindles. Late 70-up Maverick drum brake spindles are the same regardless if they came with a 4-lug or 5-lug hub and drum. 70 Mustang shares the same spindle.
