Last week near Pittsburgh Pa, rte 28 Harmarville, I was behind a motorhome from North Carolina. The license plate NC (not SC) was PLUMCRA-Z! Did not know if a part of Plumcrazy or not. Road construction and in a 18 wheeler I could not "chase" down.
It is Todd...and Plum Crazy was a Mopar color from the muscle car era. Dave it wasn't me but the guy I bought the car from is from north Carolina and owned a motor home. A qwik update on the Plum...the heads were shipped back to us today...they managed a 30 cfm flow increase on the intake ..."real" numbers are 343 cfm total now at a .800 lift.. gonna put some overlap on the new cam so I can shoot it a little when I'm feelin frisky :16suspect...I should also see an increase in the powerband topping out at around 8800 rpm.
Sounds good on the update! Can't wait to hear how you do. Congrats again on this months Drag feature!
Sorry I missed the "reply to post" email.... Todd they are Trick Flow R heads...I'll post a pic of the flow chart. Between shipping to 2 different shops, new valves, springs, retainers, valve job, porting, polishing, machining, test flowing, etc. etc. this set me back around 1800 dollars...of course I wanted to know if they freakin gold plated them too:16suspect
Mopars "Plum Crazy" is the Dodge name for high impact (extra cost) Dupont acrylic enamel paint available on 1970-71 models. FC7 was the paint code. FC7 was also used on Plymouths under the name "In-Violet". Today many Mopar enthusiasts refer to the color as "Plum Crazy" on Plymouth's and Dodge's. In Mopar circle's the term "Plum Crazy" is as common as the term "Grabber" in Maverick circles. Not that I know much about Mopars...
Here is the flow chart...notice after the .700 lift the number stays the same on the intake and only a slight increase on the exhaust...the heads first went to BCI performance in Athens Al. then to Howe Racing Heads in Winder Ga.
Rick, did you ever check out the Brodix heads? Kieth Craft great guy to deal with an does a lot of work for Brodix
I don't know about the brodix heads. Specifically the inline valve heads. I know 2 guys who are running them fully ported...and they aren't that impressive, IMO. At least not for the money. If I had the money, I'd go wiht the Victor Sr package. It only costs about $3500 for everything needed to make 'em work but they kick butt....I've seen guys making close to 900 HP on motor alone.
I've "heard" good things about the Brodix 201 and 202's, I know Bennett racing out of Ala. can make the Victors really sing. Yates C3, SC1 or D3's may be another option. All I know for sure is I've got all I'm gonna get out of the Trick Flows. I'm hoping what has been done will translate to 5.60's in the heat. Hopefully I'll know Labor Day weekend.
