-Maverick hood. -Here goes some pictures of the Grabber hood that's being manufactured in Brazil,i'm thinking about importing those for sale here in the US due to high demand,i was thinking about doing that for a long time, maybe set up a website selling all those brazilian aftermarket Maverick parts and maybe some used stuff from there, but after i joined this community i got really encouraged. -So if anybody need anything drop me a line,i can get anything here,no hassle:consoles, hoods, spoylers, tailights even whole cars. -Feel free to call me at:786-486-1104 or email ateter421sd@yahoo.com
Not to get off topic, but you might want to goto www.maverickman.com and have a look at what he offers already, might save you some time.
Hood -It is fiberglass, now regarding to the price, the issue will be shipping, and i'm trying to find a way to have those parts shipped from the factory straight to your house in Tenesse,i already contacted my guy in Brazil and he'll check on that tomorrow and i'll let you know, thanks.
I was just courios, about it. Well I poured down the rain last night, so the humidity is high and so is my frustration. ya measure, several times, then cut, then lay the other on top so you can cut it a little long and it still doesn't fit. from the look of it the edges of the frame are all different. the grabber hood is 3/8 and the flat hood is 1/2 inch. much more and I think I will shelf it till I get more experince, cause I dont want to ruin it. Robert
well hood-1 , welder-0 dang gun switch kept hanging up and causing me to burn through. after about the 10th time I slammed the gun down and the end broke off. Now I have to go buy a new h10 gun before I finish. Robert
This is a great thread! I have a hood that needs this EXACT repair. Also, what's up with the offset mount?
I noticed that too, that wont work on a us made maverick. at least without a lot of fabrication. My gun is in the mail, will get back on the hood after it is installed. Robert
Got home yesterday and my new gun was at the door. Looks like they made some inprovements on the switch...its beefier. Ok, on with the repair. This thin metal will try your patience. No mater where I set the heat and speed I kept burning through. It may not be the best or right way but while tring different things I found that if I started above where I needed the weld then pulled back across it I was less likely to burn through. Guess its like in class when the told us to push and keep the puddle in front for pentitration, since this so thin it doesn't take much heat and any force of the wire feeding will just push through the metal... As you can see from the pictures I screwed up the corner cuts. when I laid out the old onto the new I cut the line instead of leaving it, which ment it came up short. To remedy the problem I had some scrape flat steel and I am using it to bridge the gap from the under side. I tacked it to the new peice then slid it under the hood, then lined it all up and tacked it all up. I will finish it up tonight unless someone here sees something I am doing wrong. Robert
Looking good. I can't wait to see the final results. We'll see if I have the guts to cut mine up. I've got a donor hood that I'm going to use the corners from.
Guts...you don't need no stinking Guts......Just got to be nuts..... Robert Hey wait ....I resemble that remark...
