i was thinking about this tonight after i picked up a fresh drivers side door from a guy i met at a car cruise all together 12 diffrent mavericks or comets from across the US the have invested parts into mine+the spare tire in the trunk but that wansnt from a mav or comet, so i guess i could say 13 cars? between the small bumper swap parts and various other odds and end it added up pretty quick. but im sure theres some guys here who have me beat by a long shot i dont even want to add up the bill, im sure quite a few of you guys have me beat there too but regaurdless ive enjoyed it every step of the way
Donors Interesting to think about ... Bigger Mav/Comet parts ... at least 10 cars. Little nit-picky parts ... with 15 years of history in this car ... no idea. Other stuff ... Engine ... 1972 Mustang Seats ... 1973 Cougar Wheels ... 1971 Mach 1 and Stockton Wheel Console (to be installed) ... 1977 Versailles So much for "numbers matching" ...
Wheels off a mustabg... brakes off a granada, carb parts off 3 different cars. misc parts off the same 3 Mavs. That's in 5 months and I'm not close to done . Are any of us?
I am coming up with 21 different cars and trucks for my '72 daily driver. I'm sure I forgot a thing or two. That's counting all the way down to the smallest parts, like window cranks (78 Bronco) and chrome door handles ('71 LTD). My '73 I am building will be ridiculous... I couldn't even begin to add it all up right now. There are parts from at least 4 different brands of cars, not including a '63 Chris Craft boat that the gauges came from... (when I see something I like and I know I can make it work, I grab it regardless of what it came off of) There will probably be at least one part from every year Maverick in there somewhere, a few parts as old as the early 60's, and some from cars as new as 2002... I'm building the car the way I want it. As far as the engine goes, if I can't get the Ranger V6 and 5 speed automatic to work in it, I will be putting an EFI '94 Cobra 5.0 engine with T5 in it.
2 on my 73 Grabber, and the only part off another car is the driverside strut rod, everything else in new or NOS.
Put it this way......the only things original on my car are the roof and the floor pans, and maybe the right quarter.
car #1 rear bumper, hood, bench, dash shelf and gauges all came from the same car car #2 passenger side door car #3 drivers side door car #4 front bumper car #5 front bumper brackets car #6 grabber spoiler car #7 rear valence car #8 package shelf brackets car #9 swaped drivers side fenders with my comet car #10 spare tire car #11 front valence car #12 trunk car #13 grill emblem+sport mirror
It's been way too long ago to remember all the cars that made up my '72 but I think I'm close to being in the same boat as Earl.
Since my resto is currently being worked on, I have bought most of my parts in the last 2 years and I have kept a running tally on where all of my parts have come from. Maverick 44 Mustang II 13 Mustang 7 Firebird 1 Camaro 1 Corvette 2 T-Bird 2 Bobcat 2 Gran Torino Sport 1 Versaille 1 Maybe I should just name it "Frankenstein".
So far just one.Soon to be two,Getting a door from togetic to replace a badly dented and poorly repaired one.The car is currently a shell and surprisingly enough, isnt going to need much to square it away.
