Talked to my father and right now he need: - complete floor pan - trunk floor - quarter panel patch (both side) - every possible frame part of each side (frame rail, cover etc) - floor side cross (both side...not sure of the name but its a part that seem to be vertical near the end of the front fender... gas line goes through i think). My father will take a better look of what he might need and if we dont know the name of the part, we will take a picture and post it here!
Checked on google for "mustang torque box" and you are right. The part needed is called a torque box!
Brackets are going to be welded on to the trays,,, and shiped as complete units,, I will find out when and post that,,, Pasc,,, We are planning on the Torque boxes and associated brackets,,, actually all the front frame parts except shock towers,,
Sorry if this has already been asked, but why are you guys powder coating the parts? Seems like whoever buys them is just going to have to grind the powder back off to be able to weld them on? Wouldn't just spraying a cheap primer on them to prevent them from rusting be a more economical alternative? And thanks for all you are doing. Great that we are finally going to have a few parts reproduced.
Maybe offer powdercoating as an option on bolt on parts? I will need a battery tray and the panel that goes behind it eventually, and I would be more prone to buy them primed. My whole engine bay will be painted.
Do you have an idea of when they will come out? Again, thanks for all the work you are doing to keep this hobby alive!
the reason the parts are powder coated,,, (1) protect from rust. (2) If your welding the cover on a box frame,, your eather grinding just the area that will be spot welded,,,or drilling holes for the welds,,,still 98% is protected. Some of the parts will be in just primer,, Frame parts are donePowder for protection,, body and engine bay sheet metal wont be.
Torque boxes and other associated pieces wont be to far off,,, The Idea is to make parts that can bring some of these cars back to life,,, I have seen a few in junk yards that are front end hit,,, with very little rust,,, or sorta clean car that has torque boxes rotted or frame rail rot or cracking from a V8 and not supported correct. so since these cars are getting rare,,, the more parts out there,,, the less that get crushed,,,, The cost invested in this venture is staggering,,, and the hours are long,, One day the parts we are making for these cars,, should cover all your needs,, all as we ask is help us move these parts,, so we can keep investing in this venture and keep the cost coming down,,, This all came out of needing parts for the cars I have,,, but talking to alot in the Maverick and Comet comunity,, Every one was in the same boat as me,,, I have a Body shop and work with metal all the time,,, But alot dont have that,, So I hope over the next few months what we are doing can help all of you get your cars up and restored and one Day the Round up will be huge,,, showing the diferant Idea's and tallents of the Maverick and Comet comunity,,, I will promiss all of you this,, as we keep re-investing in this venture the cost of parts are going to come down alot,, that reduction in cost will be passed on to you,, so please help us help you,, The Idea is to get the prices down so all can afford to build these cars,, It will come to pass,, just have faith,,, Soon all of us will be able to get all the parts on the cars. Your Idea's are all heard,,, and I look at them daily,, cars tend to rust diferant depending on location,, We have some 92 parts in the works,, after that it will be plastics and other finish pieces,, the rear window Boomarangs are being made,, 2 diferant ways one for show,,,and one for daily drivers,,, soon as the 2 companies hand over the samples and prices we will get that out to you,, Take a look at RPS and what is on the site so far,, and compare the prices,,, its almost 20% less for the same parts as any place else,, working with Tony and Chuck and a few others,, we are trying to not only get the parts to you,,,but deliver at a better price,, Its going to take all of us,, Together,,,, the faster we move these parts the faster we can re-invest and keep moving,, the Tooling is a major cost,, once we have it and its payed for,,, the cost will start falling across the board,, We also have to purchase additional presses,,, that is in the works now,, Our lazer cutter went down last week,, the repairs came to just under $10k and that hurt,,,, The end result of all of this,,, is all our prayers for parts will be answered. Going to a web site and finding what we need at a sweet price... Keep the Idea's coming,,, and lets move these parts,, Also call and tell Tony what you need and or looking for at RPS,, He will find it carry it at a sweet price,, also the feed back will also make it back. Giving us more Idea's on what is needed,, Thank you Joe
