Alright I think I found a great deal on a system. "Well, I just introduced a new brake system, but requires the drum spindles. The new brake setup uses 2008 Mustang GT 12.5" brakes. I have an introductory, pre-production offer out that provides the brackets, rotors, calipers, pads and hoses for $500.00 plus shipping. The brake parts are Saleen take-offs with less than 6 miles on them. Requires 17" wheels." Can I expect any problems from adding these to my current manual disc setup. I have a stock, dual bowl, manual brake master cylinder and Stock rear drums. I am already running 17" wheels. I'll need to find some drum brake spindles though.
No link. Its so new the parts are still in development. But the seller is close enough to me that I can go for a test fit. I just need to know if it will work.
I believe it was Lance that posted something similar to this some time back. Don't see why it will not work. My concern is whether the master cylinder will displace enough fluid for the calipers. You may need to go to an aftermarket master cylinder for the proper displacement.
I wonder if the 93 Cobra master cylinder will bolt up without the booster? If you look at the Mustang in Mustangs & Fords (Nov/07) the on they are doing the 6 cylinder in, it has a newer style MC without a booster. I ordered a new 74 disc/drum mc today from Napa, and have the Geo booster, so I was playing with the idea of getting them to match up, we'll see.
I looked at mustang steve's stuff for the rear disc brakes http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cobr...001QQitemZ110178530658QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW the only thing about going that path is if you have nice wheels already. from what I gathered form it you need 16" plus wheels to fit the disc's. Robert
With all of us who have swapped to discs, finding a set of drum spindles definitely shouldn't be a problem. I have a real nice set that came off a low mileage '73.
I was thinking that someone had a front disc kit for our cars, maybe I was wrong. I would also be interested in this kit. I may be able to find a spindle. I got my clutch peddles out of a earlier model maverick. If someone ran disc on a 4 wheels, would we need a better booster & M/C.
