OK, I never realized I was one of those people that I make fun of for finding an unnecessarily hard way to do something that should be easier. But there you have it. DOH!:slap:

Thanks guys for a warm welcome back. It feels good. I am looking forward to my son and nephew working with me on them to get them all back together and the way each of us see our cars as in the end. I think I got teh re size and attachment thing figured out. I hope so any way. See below the car that we took for a short ride after 5 years of no driving it.

    Thanks

without Comet now just keeping in touch
Nice story even nicer mav!! I have to add my own story though, I have a daughter who is 16 and since she was 8 she has loved my Comet the only family member to really understand, It is now time for her to pick out her first car, and it probably won't be a Mav or Comet, needs to be a daily driver, but she does have the Maverick attitude. People mention cars she should look at, Escorts, and Cavaliers, Grand Ams and the like, just Sunday she said "you dad I want some thing different not like everone else.. ahh I have taught her well. One of my otehr Daughters the 3 year old loves "Comet" she just calls her Comet not "the Comet" I back her down the drive to start her up just to keep the battery up, and Mackenzie said.. "ride in Comet ride In Comet over and over", she was thrilled to go several feet back into the Garage with me!! Ahh another one added to the fan list!!

Great looking car! That is my favorite color scheme for 73 Grabbers. One of these days, I hope to find one of those for myself. :)

Thanks for the the compliments guys. The car looks good but if you look close it needs a lot of work. We have all the stuff just need to do it now Barry the small block is going in this one with a set of 69 351W heads that I got from Ryan on the board here. It will have a weiand intake and 750 holley 4 barrel carb and I forget the cam specs. Nothing to radical because it is going to my son when he gets his license about 2 years from now. The front bumber has been pushed back so that it did not stick out so far. It does look better. Again thanks!! Allen Small

Great looking car. Even better story!

My exwife hated the old cars. Thank goodness, my son took after me. She never liked to have any of my old cars in the garage. Right now, my son's '69 Mach 1 is in her garage, anything for her baby boy. Go figure! Thank goodness I don't have to worry about that now, with 8 old cars in my current garage. I would have to have a REAL understanding wife now.

Look at it this way. It is easy to find a nice woman, but it's very difficult to find a nice old car. Enjoy your freedom and cherish the time you have with your kids. They grow up fast.

Good to hear from you Allen, been a while! You start looking for another Maverick, and want to travel a little for one, let me know. I've got a couple of restoreable drivers I'd let go REAL cheap to a real good home.
