http://home.cmaaccess.com/~scodon/picturehost.htm Scooper put this together for me. (thanks, buddy) I cannot take credit for the first three pics. Apparently, my pics were stubborn to post. Anyway, like I said, she's not perfect, but we were given a fair price and I LOVE her! YAY! We have a new front passenger 1/4 panel to replace that really rusty one. I need a cover for the front bench seat--see where it is wearing thin? I need some way to "fix" that crack in the dash. The gas guage does not work. Well--what do y'all think? Go ahead and tell me problems that you see. You may see soemthing that I didn't catch or don't know enough to be worried about. I'd like to hear your opinions. I will take some more pics when she gets here.
That looks like a really nice Maverick you got there. Congrats! There is no real " fix " for the crack in the dash. You can get a dash cap that will fit right over the old dash. Many people here use them and are quite happy with them. I have one in my red and white Maverick and it fits very good. As for the gas guage not working, it could be a number of things; a bad fuel sending unit comes to mind first. That is the typical cause of a non working fuel guage. It could also be a bad wire or the plastic dash pad cluster ( located on the backside of the dash cluster) could be starting to fall apart. Ford used a very crappy type of plastic on the dash pod clusters in the later Mavericks, and as time goes by, they fall apart. Those are the worst case scenarios. I would first have the fuel sending unit checked and go from there.
Looks like a nice car. As for the fuel sending unit, look underneath the rear of the car at the left side of the gas tank. You will see a hose that goes into the tank and a smaller wire connected to the side of the tank. Pull that wire off and take a paper clip or piece of wire and short he two terminals together on the wire (don't worry, it's very low voltage). Turn the key on and see if the gas gauge pegs to full. If it does, then it's your sending unit.
other than the hippie, and the rotten cherry, i saw nothing wrong with the pics. and whos the babe in the drop top stang? hi scott! car looks great sabrina. not to much work there. cant wait to see more pics.
looks like the start of a good project there. once the rust is fixed. it'll be in real nice condition.
Thanks, Guys! I am really excited. Steve and I both had Mavs as kids, and have always talked about getting another. He had his heart set on a Grabber or Stallion--well, really anything with a V8, and he really hates the bench seat. I am perfectly OK with the bench seat--that is what my other one had. Will replace the 6 cylinder eventually, but in no hurry. I won't be doing any racing. Now, the main thing I want is to get another one for the hubby so that we can each pursue our very different plans for what makes a Mav "Da Bomb"!
Good to know! Thanks for the tip--I will be sure to show this to Steve--he'll be the one trying to work that out, I am sure.
Sabrina, The car looks great!! Glad you have joined this great bunch of hooligans my husband calls friends. It is a great place to ask questions and get advice. I am so glad Scooper has found them. I just wish that you had a better pic of me in my Mustang, ie. in the summer. Lots of luck!!! Take care, Anna, a.k.a Scooper's Kindergarten Teacher wife
Thanks guys, I like to think my profession has some recognition. Oh, and being married to Scooper, too!!
