Good Morning! Cold outside and the maverick is full of antifreeze! I need some help,,,, Im building a stroker engine, and cant find any specs on a 4 inch bore piston for my custom application,,, looking at Ford 302, or chevy 350. Where can I find a site that has the specific info on compression height and pin OD specs??? I need a 4 inch bore piston, with a 2-5/16 compression height,,, that uses a pin smaller than 1 inch,,,,, and Ill customize it from there,,,,,, any specs or site refference would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, sorry for the off topic! FB 69.5
2.3125" Compression height??? I think the tallest I've ever heard of was a Mopar 440 and they are only 2.05" but with a 1.04 (IIRC) pin. Good luck.....with that tall of a piston, you'll probably end up with custom pistons from JE, Venolia, Ross, among others. Be ready because they aint' cheap. Whats the crank stroke, rod length, and deck height? Try www.jepistons.com
you can also try KB Pistons 1/2 stroke + rod length + Compression height should = about 8.2 for a standard 302 block.
2-5/16" ? You sure about that ? Stock pin height on a 302 piston is anywhere from 1.585 to 1.619" Chevy 350 pistons are something like 1.50. What's this going into?
Wakasha gas 6 cyl. Stock stroke is 4 inch, Bore is now 4 inch, with a 2-5/16 compression height and a 1.25 diameter pin. Thats with stock stroke. The stroker option, comes into how much I can go to bring it up to TDC. With a 1.5 Compression height piston and stock rod length, Id have to stroke the crank shaft .40625 to bring it up to TDC. For a total stroker of 13/16 of an inch more piston travel in the sleeves. Imagine stroking a 300 ford 6 cyl that much!! How much low end torque would that brute have??? But the 302 piston,,, sounds like a good option for the stroker,,, 1.585 did ya say? what is the 1.616 piston? Can go up to a full inch stroker on this engine and live a happy life.
Go to http://kb-silvolite.com , there you'll find plenty of piston choices. The 302 was produced for 30-something years, hence the difference in pin heights from 1.585 to 1.619. You might look up pistons for a 75-82 351M also, these were the tallest I think. Look up the 300-6 cylinder also.
if not spec'd in the catalog, you can always call em. worst they can say ( hopefully) is we cant help you, have a nice day.
