    I just won a wood grain dash piece on E-bay and was wondering how they are attached and if there is a piece for the ash tray. Anybody got any decent pics of one on thier Mav/Comet.

    Missing my old '70 Maverick
    I thought those only fit the '76-1/2 Shelby Mavericks. :confused:

    If memory serves, there are 2 studs on the back that use those nuts that make their own threads. There is no piece for the ashtray.

    I've got a piece of that from my '77 if anyone else is looking for one. And yes, it mounts with a couple of plastic studs.

    ohh i see. my comet didnt have it tho. just the wood areas on the door panels. might have been lost over the past 30 years too. it just has the comet emblem to the far right of the dash

    1977 Maverick 2 door with a 302.
    I have a couple of them too. The trim is held on with speed nuts on my Maverick. It's lots of fun reaching up behind the dash to install them.

    That's one of the nice things about the 71-72's...much easier. :)
