A lot of guys are using those in their Mavericks and Comets. My understanding is that they only work with floor shift cars. I think somebody is using a column shift automatic with a set, but he fabricated a linkage.

Judging by my experience with Hooker's ceramic coating, I think its crap. I'd check the price of uncoated headers. They may be a good bargain either way.

If I had it to do over, I'd have somone custom make a set of 1-3/4" Primaries headers for me. By the time you add the cost of the spacer plates, and an additional set of good gaskets to the headers (plus the shipping charges for everything), you'll have... well, lot's of money tied up in 'em.

Those spacer plates are a PITA too.

However, it sounds like a helluva deal at that price.

I'll second the Hooker coating opinion.

They only coat the outside, and use cheap coating.
The companies that coat 'for a living' do inside and out.

That said, that price is most likely cheaper than new uncoated.
If so, you should probably jump on them.

I will point out that they are big tubes for a mild engine as well.
You might have some issues there. Either with good fitment on small stock ports, or with soggy torque production due to large tubes.

well the guy who has em is about 30 min away and they're still 150 cheaper than the non coated version...

i know these headers are probably a lil bit overzealous for the engine in there now. but im either building a 347 or dropping a 6-71 on a 302 so i'll need the larger tubes in the semi near future.

Not to be a smart a*s but I thought the spacer plates were super simple to deal with. I just glued them to the cylinder with hi-temp silicone sealer and never worried about them again. :16suspect Doesn't matter, they are somebody elses problem now, nothing but 2 1/8" custom headers for me......

Can't believe I didn't pick up on that. Don't know that I have ever heard it though. Too funny.

I have a set that aren't coated & was disappointed with the fit. I got them new from Summit & it seemed that the drivers side header collector was pushed outside about 3 inches, hence not parallel with the passenger side collector. I could understand if there was a reason for this, but nothing is in the way to interfere with the install. Maybe I just got a crappy one? Other than that they've worked great with my floor shift 302. Had to put in the power steering drop & removing the clutch pivot is kind of a pain. Not much ground clearance either.
