Ain't that the truth!!!!! You know what? Steve is still talking to Tweet on the phone. Sounds like he's found another friend, for sure! They've swapped so many stories about cars--I think I have enough material for a book!
Sabrina...DAS is Dependable Auto Shippers. This is the company I have used several times as have several guys on this board. Their number is 800-826-1083 just in case things don't work out but it sounds like you might be getting it taken care of. It can definitely get very frustrating waiting on a car like this. I bought a vehicle from up north before and it took like six weeks to get it. The shipping company was nothing more than a lady at her house setting up the truck to pick up and deliver. She wasn't scamming but was very unprofessional. Anyway, this is the depot my two Mavericks were taken to in California a couple years ago...very professional company. Good luck...we're with you all the way!
I once took a bus to Florida and took a box of tools with me. I fixed the car there at Pep Boys and drove it home...good luck.
man that white mav is sexy! sorry you gotta go though so much crap to get your car!! this kinda stuff is reason numbro uno i dont buy cars off the interwebs. i woulda been at this guys doorstep awhile ago, lol.
I just want to Iterate that none of this is the sellers fault, so that there is no misunderstanding. And that the truckers donot work for the broker, they are subcontractors. That said the truckdriver was crooked! At the very least his call was definitly unethical. I am a firm beliver in Karma and the rule of three. Any way there has been a positive development that I will outline soon. I have reason to believe we may have it here by the weekend.
I don't think the drivers working for them now but I don't know for sure. One time my alternator on my 6000 went out in the parking lot of Sabrina's work, and I replaced it right there, after borrowing her car to get the replacement and then jump it off. I usually keep my tool bag in the trunk of my car but I use it at work too. On our honeymoon we trashed the fuel filter on Sabrina's mercury sable when I ran over a retread on the interstate. I wanted to try to fix it with my leatherman tool and some duck tape to get us to the next exit but Sabrina wouldn't let me crawl under the car on the side of the road so we had to walk.
If you're talking about post 22, yes, that is my 72 Sprint I got out of California. Getting ready to start on it soon...hopefully. Needs repaint and interior but it is a rust free car, with 302/automatic, and p/s. It runs and drives excellent (95K miles). Can't wait to get her done.
That's pretty good! For as much as I know about fixing cars, a box of tools would do me as much good as a box of spaghetti noodles. I'm learning stuff as I go, though.
