I didn't know how best to describe this in the subject other than "trunk floor quarter panel fillers". When I was a kid my Dad drove a '76 Maverick two door. He drove this car far a very long time and went through two engines. I specifically remember, in the trunk, these cardboard-like extensions that sat partially on the trunk floor and extended out over the quarter panel - filling the gap. They had little flaps that pointed downward in an attempt to keep them in position. They were black in color and eventually rotted away as the trunk began to leak (and Dad piled more and more tools n such in the trunk). At some point in time, what was left of them was thrown away. I've never seen a set since. Am I remembering something that didn't exist or that the 1st owner made (he was the 2nd owner)? This car had a vinyl trunk mat.
Funny I was just asking about these boards in another thread see here. So there are supposed to panels covering the holes, but did the trunk mat cover the boards?
Funny, I was just posting about how you posted about something I just posted about....wait...huh Anyway, I've haven't seen any of these since the 76 I mentioned above. The picture you posted doesn't look like what I remember. But from I can remember, I don't think the trunk mat layed over them.
Like I said - I've never seen them on a car since. Dad bought the car with about 18K miles on it in '79 or so. I was there when he bought it from the original owner. Perhaps the original owner made these. If he did, he sure did a good job.
