My dad asked me if I knew if anyone ever used epoxy or some other compounds to line the ports in a head. Something that would be slick and not let carbon stick over time. Anyone know of anything that could withstand the heat and stay bonded to the iron/aluminum?
Epoxy is used in head porting. Sometimes with Cleveland heads the exhaust floor is filled and epoxied. The aluminum epoxy(devcon?) is different than the cast iron epoxy.
One guy around here used to use Moroso A & B epoxy to raise the intake floors. Don't know if he still uses it and I never heard of any problems with using it for the intake ports. Any epoxy will have to be pinned to the port to keep it in place.
