What are the best years of bobcat tail lights to look for ?,for cosmetic looks on the back of a Maverick ,ie : 71 to 74 or 74 to 77 . I would really like to know so i can presue finding a set, thanks Jimmy2gates
i believe 74-77 would be the ones, hatch back only. wagons are diffrent the bobcat came out in '74 in canada and '75 in the Us i believe
Bobcat was the Mercury version of the Pinto, wasn't it? Since I only see the Bobcat taillight talked about on here, I presume that the Pinto is different?
pintos and bobcats are just as simular as amaverick and comet, but the bobcat didnt come out untill a few years later. pinto hatch backs up untill '77? used the same tail lights as the maverick while bobcats had the cool ones everyone wants after that both the bobcat and pinto hatch's switched to a very ugly plastic piece
My "source" says 75-78. That is a small range to find a specific not-very-popular car. Check your PMs...
after that bobcats and pintos both switched up their tail lights. i couldnt find a late bob cat but this was the new pint design
I got my Bobcat lights off a '75 in a local junkyard. They are alright... if I come across more sets I will buy them because they are desirable, but I don't think I would put them on one of my cars again. Lately I've been thinking more and more about swapping back to the stock lights on the '72.
I like mine. I have 2 new sockets to install lights behind the two reflector-only panels. I was going to do a silver/black trim paint job this fall, but motor issues have distracted me.
im telling you scoop, a dozen cans of walmart 99 cent spray paint and an afternoon of of work would do wonders for that thing do you have a CF spoiler or is it just gloss black?
I'm with you Jamie, not a big fan of the Bobcat lights either, maybee with the taillight panel and the bezels painted black would help but just looks a little busy for me.The funny thing is if Mav's came factory with those lights everybody would be doing a Pinto light swap .But it's cool if everyone was the same it would be boring.
They also made two different bezels in this style. Chromed [cast pot metal?] and anodized stamped aluminum. The chromed ones get pitted and the anodized coating gets scratched. I thought I wanted them chrome until I painted these, I think black looks better now. I hated the pinto lights.
