I have been looking at an old post about the different posi options for Fords. Can I get a bit more input from you guys? It's just not coming in clearly for me. By the way, this is for use in a Versailles diff. The question; What am I looking for if I want to put an affordable used posi unit in my Mav? (meaning; Yeah, sure, a new unit from Currie Enterprises made out of Kryptonite would be cool, but I have kids to put thru college yet, so what's an average guy to do to make his Mav launch straight?) Input on places to look are also appreciated..Thanks guys. John B.

I thought the Versaillles came with Trac-Loc?..maybe not.
I went a different route on mine...Im having a F-150 rear end cut down that had Trac-loc and 3.25 ratio.
Search differentials on E-bay...I think you can pic up a Hoghead reasonable on there.

I just finished putting on a PowerTrak unit from Richmond. I love it! It is a locker so there is clicking when I turn tight but other than that works great. I replaced all the bearings, seals, ring/pinion and the whole thing was around $400.00. Scott

I have a Trac-Loc in mine w/ 3.89:1 gears. The Ford service manual explains how to check if the clutches are up to spec by turning the diff with a beam-type torque wrench and checking the resistance.

The factory trac lock is by far the cheapest unit out there. You can buy them new from Jegs and Summit for $260. Most Versailles came with one. They are also rebuildable.
