I am new to this site and just wanted to introduce myself and my car. I am a 37 year old Police Officer. I am married and a father of 4 soon to be 5 children. My car is a 1974 two door Maverick that has been in my family since he was new. He first belonged to my Great Grandfather who passed him along to my Grandfather who passed him along to me. My car has had three owners in its life but has always lived at the same address, so he is really a one owner. He is Ford blue with the in line 200 six cylinder. Blue interior and looks like he is only about 5 years old due to the fact that he has always lived in the garage. I have many plans for this car. I am going to upgrade him to a 302 and do a custom paint job. I plan on making him very similar to a Grabber with a few modern updates. Things like disc brakes, custom sound system and since I am a cop and some Mavericks were Police cars I will be adding hidden Police strobes and L.E.D. lights just for added effect. I am very intersted in meeting anyone with a Maverick and plan on putting him in car shows. My restoration project is a 5 year plan. I cant do it all at once because as I mentioned I have a family and Police dont make alot of money. I have been searching for a car to fix up for years, and it just hit me one day that I already had the perfect car. There are so many Mustangs and Camaro's but you never see a really nice Maverick. I plan on changing that. I look foward to making new friends and wish everyone a merry Christmas! I have a couple of pics of my car up on My Space if you wanna check him out. Very nice Maverick!! We have several members in Alabama, and a ton of us right next door in Georgia. You may also want to sign up at dixiemaverick.com and keep an eye out for our next mini meet. I don't know that there ever were any actual Maverick police cars, but a member here has done one up like a police car: http://mmb.maverick.to/gallery/showimage.php?i=810&catid=member&imageuser=90
Welcome aboard Chris! Good to have some more Alabamians around. Gotta watch out for those Ga guys though. They are mighty close to you. Scary bunch up there...
Welcome! Gotta love those '74s. I've got a 4 door of my own. A police maverick sounds sweet! I hope you post plenty of work in progress pics.
