Our local junkyard called my dad's shop today and told us they have a old f-150 truck with a 302 engine and a stick shift trans. And once they're done stripping the body panels I can drop in and have the drive train. But my question is will that 302 engine from a stick trans bolt up to my Maverick's automatic C4 trans?

I'm far from a C4 guru but don't you have to make sure to get the proper flexplate also? I have headr of a couple of different styles.

Remove the pilot bushing and take the flywheel off so you can bolt on the flex plate to fit the converter. Then you bolt on the C4 and run with it. (if it is any good)

The thing to look out for is the clutch pivot/shifter linkage threaded hole in the driver's side rear of the block. That 81 motor may not have it. And if your car is a column shft, you're going to need it.

You need to make sure that you have the correct weighted flexplate so you don't throw your motor out of balance. In other words if the engine has a 28oz. imbalance instead of the 50oz. you need the 28oz flexplate same goes the other way.
