I got the part I was waiting on from inline6. (Thanks very much!) My question now is.... is this the correct part?? I have attached a picture of the new pitman arm. This looks just like my old pitman off the power steering. (I am switching to manual steering) Also, the bolt that connects the pitman arm to the center link is gone...I didnt think these bolts came out of the pitman. Can I order the bolt seperately? Is this the wrong pitman arm for manual steering? Help!!!!!

    Steering less in Missouri..........

Ok...does this help? This is a picture of the pitman and center link on my car. As you can see, there is no way to attach the two. All my cars are power steering so I am not sure what kind of bolt holds them together. Any help would be appreciated.

There should be a stud on the driver's side end of that center link, and a hole in the other end for the idler arm. Is that off a Mav? Here's a shot of the steering linkage on my 71:

Yep, it is a 77 Mav. So the stud is attached to the center link and not the pitman arm? ( and the bolt goes thru the pitman, right?) Supposedly this center link is off a Mav...I would guess 71 or 72. The pitman in the picture is a power steering pitman that is coming off. I have the manual pitman thanks to Inline6, I will be putting this on tonight. But I dont have the stud on the center link. Can you pick these up anywhere??

Thanks very much for the pictures guys. It really cleared things up in my mind...now if I can only find the part I need!

Let me know if I am going about this the right way.

I don't know that that stud comes out of the center link... In the closeup you can see the castle nut sits below the pitman arm, so the stud would have to be in the center link.

Well, it turns out that not all mav/comet pitman and center links are the same. 70- 74 are the same and 75-77 are the same. I have a 75-77 center link and a 70 pitman arm. They wont work together. So now I need to find a 75-77 Pitman arm!! Anyone have one of these...I have a 70 to trade thanks to Inline6. :D

jim, sorry the part didn't work, wish i could have seen a pic.of the centerlink, beforhand.in the pic you posted, the hole at the end of your centerlink,it should look like an unserviceable tierod end, with a rubber collar at the end of the housing.the pitman arm resty up against the rubber collar and is held in place with a castle nut and a cotter pin.if you can't use it or can't find any takers on it,let me know.
    take care...chuck.
