Hello everyone. Just wondering if you all know where I might be able to obtain a power steering assist mechanism for my 1972 Maverick. I have been looking for ages! I know they are hard to come by, but I'm just hoping...I'm also looking for straight 6 motor mounts, new visors, and arm rests. Thanks in advance.
Welcome to the forum Here is a power steering setup from a member http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=40694 I am guessing you need the rubber motor mounts. You can get these from the local auto parts store or www.rockauto.com You can get visors and arm rests from www.autokrafters.com Or post a parts wanted add in the correct forum.
I got a rebuilt power assist "ram" from O'Reilly just a couple years ago. About $120. Should be able to find them. I actually bought both parts, the ram and the valve.
Is your car power steering or are you looking to convert it to power??? If it is already PS and you just need replacement parts, then you can get just about any of it from Advance Auto or the like. If you have manual steer and want to convert it, you would do best finding someone (probably here) that is parting out a PS equipped car. The steering box, as well as some of the linkage needs swapped, as well as the parts that need to be added. Welcome! Edit: For some of the other parts you mention, eBay is your friend. Don't limit yourself to Mavericks either when searching for some parts. The arm rests for example, are common to many Fords/Mercs, not just Mavericks. I won't go into it all, but while there are several parts unique to our cars, there are also a great deal that can swap from other cars. More than you would imagine is also available from the local parts store when it comes to anything mechanical, or your rubber engine mounts.
