A lot of times the rear cables are rusted up. If its below freezing and there is moisture in there, it could cause them to freeze up too. Either way, sometimes you can take a propane torch and put some heat on the outer shield. Not too much though, they have a rubber coating and you dont want to melt it or set it on fire. If you get them free, dont use them again until you remove them, hang them up by the end, and start putting oil down the cable. Eventually it will work through and loosen them up. I dont use WD40 or the likes because they evaporate and you will be right back where you started from.
