Grundy paid me 90% of my agreed value and I was able to keep my car for the other 10% when Katrina flooded her. They did not give me a salvage title back either...plus they still insure it. I had only paid them one payment.
I have Hagerty. A couple years ago the original windshield in my '72 spontaneously cracked while sitting in my driveway. I gave 'em a call and they covered the cost of replacing it. They were very easy to deal with, and they didn't raise my rates. Yeah, it wasn't a $20k claim or anything (I have $20k coverage @ $195/Yr), but so far I have been very happy with them.
Grundy I don't know that one is any better than another. Mine is $165/yr for $15K in coverage. I am sure that location, and your age/driving record matters. As stated, no daily driving but no mileage limitations. They wanted to know that it was kept in a garage and I had to send 4 pics I believe. Speed competition is not covered. Seth
I originally applied for Haggerty but they noticed I had nitrous, at the time. They said they don't cover any cars with power adders unless they came factory. Grundy didn't care.
Thanks for all the replies. Hope I didn't open up a can of worms with somebody. I quess I should have mentioned that there's a seperate company policy on two 1987 Ford 1ton vans. Take a guess what the insurance is on those.
I have Hagerty for all 7 of my older cars. They also insured my 99 Miata because of the limited use, only 11,000 miles since I bought it new. I have never had to make a claim but a freind of mine has made 3 on his custom 65 Econoline van. All three times they paid the full amount of the estimate and never raised his rates. The claims ranged from $6500-800. Fred
