I don't know if this is what you are looking for, but... 9" small bearing, 28 spline axles ARE 8" big bearing (5 lug), 28 spline axles. Edit: Ford and Shelby, at one time, used 8" axles and axle tubes, mounted to 9" housing centers to make small bearing 9" rears for HiPo and Shelby Stangs. Using your complete Maverick 8", and installing a 9" housing center, to make a pure bolt in 9", costs roughly 200 bux. (Price depends on your local welding market I notice)
I believe you answered my question. I'm wanting to put Maverick 28 spine axles in a 9" housing with the big bearing ends on the housing. Did I get that right????????Hmmmm. Anyway, thanks for the reply. Jerry
Do you mean 'big bearing' 9" housing ends, or 'big bearing' 8" ends??? The big 8" ends are equal to small 9" ends. If you mean big 9" ends, then you may be able to do it by getting axle bearings with the axle ID and housing OD.
If you mean big 9" ends, then you may be able to do it by getting axle bearings with the axle ID and housing OD. Yes, that's what I was thinking. Torino size outer bearing diameter on housing.
There is undoubtably axle bearings made that do what you want to do. I'm thinking the 57-59 Ford 9" axles had those bearings.
