I'm planning on tearing into my engine this winter heres my list of mods any estimates would be great 302+.040.... 308 forged speed pro pistons- .440 dome shold be around 11.1 stock crank and rods with ARP fasteners FMS windage tray melling hi-vol. oil pump COMP extreme energy cam- 250/256 dur@.50 .554/.558 lift 110 lobe sep. AFR 185street/strip heads 2.02/1.60 with 58cc chambers 1.6 roller rockers(not sure what kind yet?) Offy 360 intake/1"4 hole spacer carter afb 625 cfm( may possibly change carb and intake toEDE. perf. RPM or weind stealth, and to a bigger carb...ex. 750?) I allready have in the car a 10" TCI streetfighter conv.(3000 stall) C4 with a shift kit ,3.80 gears with aTrachtech (detroit)gearless locker.subframes and 28X10 M/T ET drags hedman long tubes with 2 1/2" exhaust H- pipe and header cut outs anyone want to take a crack at it??
If I were me (and I am!) I'd go with something a bit tougher then stock rods, (decent forged units are available on ebay for cheap) and use the stealth or a Victor JR intake. you'll go fast. No HP estimate from me though.
anyone....anyone? dosen't anyone want to guess? anyone have the desktop dyno ?...to give me some kinda idea I'm hopin its about 450 to 480hp flywheel
Not with that Carter carburetor. Get a holley if you want to make horsepower. If you want to make it a show car use the Carter. Go with the performer rpm or the victor jr, don't use the offy. I think you can get it into the 400+ horsepower range.
Why estimate...get desktop dyno and plug your numbers and know for sure... If your gonna invest that kinda money in it, a software program that can tell you what your gettin is chump change
Here are my thoughts and experience with desktop dyno. My buddy has a 477 cu. in. big block. He got the dyno software and punched in all his specs. I asked him what kind of power his motor has, he said the dyno software told him that maximum power (with nitrous) is 1,000 hp. I said WOW, that's ALOT!! To make a long story short, my car will blow his doors off and I have nowhere near 1,000 hp. I guess he punched the numbers in wrong when he did the "desktop dyno" on his motor!!
desktop dyno I had the Desktop Dyno,on my old 'puter, but my new one runs windows XP( I hate it!) I don't think it will run on XP and I don't really want to spend the money for Engine Anelyzer.
Performance Trends Anyone have the Performance Trends engine analyzer? I have the demo and it sure does look sweet, but it would be nice to see how accurate it is. any way you look at it though, the only way to know how much power you'll make is to screw the thing together and dyno it.
desktop dyno 2000 runs under Xp from what i have seen if you put the right numbers in just as you are building the car it is close from what i have been told but its still fun
desktop dyno doe's anyone have or know where I can get the desktop dyno downloaded? Thats how I got it on my last 'puter , but I never had a chance to save it before my 'puter crashed.
I agree with your combo except carb and intake. Get Air Gap RPM or Stealth intake. Your stall is not bigg enough IMHO for a Victor intake of anykind. Drop that carter. Get a Speed Demon 650 or 750 holley DP. I would say tuned properly min 390hp to 430hp.
also if not running nitrous I would get a Hyper pistons of some kind. Lighter quicker revs. BALANCE that motor for sure. The comp ratio is about dead on with that cam and big valve choice.
hypers thanks for all the replies! as fas nitrous goes I've thought about it and not sure if I'll be running it yet or not. would hyper pistons handle a 100 shot of nitrous? Thats all I'd probably run. I've heard mixed responses on using nitrous with Hyper pistons!! the carb and intake setup I listed are the ones on my setup now, I do plan on changing them. probably to a demon carb( I hate Holley carbs, I've had nothing but bad luck with them!) and an edelbrock rpm intake or stealth depending on wich is cheaper, with all the other mods budgets pretty tight.
