While I'm complaining about my headlight switch I might as well hit on this too. My heater controls don't work, I can change the fan speed, I can change from hot to cold, but I can only get the air to come through the defrost vents?
Broken mechanically linkage? Would several unhooked uknown vacuum lines have anything to do with it? (Ever since i got the car theres been a few small vacuum lines running into the passenger side fender from the engine compartment - the previous owner had them tucked away and tied into knots.. everything worked other than the heater and hooking them up didnt seem to affect it).

    *sigh*

posted by...Mavaholic...The problem is the vacuum switches are made of plastic and they get brittle from the heat over the years. I found an NOS one from Green Sales back in 99 when I redid my 77. You might try them. Other option is to find one from a 70. They were all metal. You have to flip the vacuum plug upside down cause thats just they they were, but there is enough slack in the hoses to do that. I have one laying around here somewhere

Just for kicks, what did your AOD come out of and how hard was it to stick in? I'm picking mine up tomorrow from the shop to swap in this weekend.

I would say: Lack of vacuum or vacuum leak. If there is no vacuum hooked up to operate the system....or if it has a leak, it will have the syptoms you describe.

I would suggest checking out the vacuum lines that you describe as being tucked away and tied into knots ...I would bet that is where your probelm is.

Nope, couldn't run them, when I bought this one it had the shock towers notched just to make room for the manifolds on the Cleveland.
