WHEN IT COMES TO DISC BRAKE SETUPS FOR THE 70 MAV, IT APPEARS THE GRANADA,MONARCH IS THE WAY TO GO. CAN YOU USE THE 74 AND UP MAV BRAKES?? AND MUST YOU USE A POWER BOOSTER SETUP?? I SEE A SETUP LIKE THIS http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1970...138192544QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item160138192544 IT LOOKS PRICEY OR IS THAT THE GOING RATE. CAN THE POWER BOOSTER SETUP BE TAKEN FROM ANOTHER DONAR CAR?
No, you don't have to use a power booster. The '74-'77 Maverick disc brakes are the same as Granada/Monarch. '74-'75 they were optional, and '76-'77 they were standard. I don't see any brakes in that picture...
correct....I just did this swap on my 70'.......its a great improvement over the drums. Well worth it.
Has anyone used a hydroboost setup off of a 96 and up Mustang GT? My dad put one on his 64 Galaxie and that thing stops on a dime and leaves change. I figure on a smaller car it would work just as well. My old man droped about 600 on his but it looks like the newer stangs match up exactly.
Gotcha.. a fabricator friend and I are looking to adapt a Toyota tacoma front end to the maverick. I was going to buy the RC Motorsports one for 2500 but I can get the Toyota parts for 200 bucks complete for the firewall forward. I figure it it doesn't work, grind the tabs off and still go with the RC and sell the toyota parts, so no shock towers and coil overs may be a possibility... Toyotas of that vintage also have the same 5 lug pattern so no one would know lol...
Good article, that is all the proof of concept I need as I will be running 4 wheel discs also big BIG calipers up front. Thanks for the link!
