I stripped my front bumper 2 yrs ago, 1974 BIG bumper with mounts, weighed in at 102lbs, I built my own mounts and all I have for a bumper is the chrome outer shell.Weighs in at 32lbs = 70lbs. lighter! I have pics of my bumper brackets if anyones interested.

    keep looking

I've got fibreglass bumpers on mine... but I can't tell you where they came from cause I didn't build the car. Just encouraging you to keep looking. They're out there.

Just adding to the post here ...

I weighed my Comet hood once and it came in right at 50 lbs. I guess the added schnoz on them is 10 lbs heavier than a Mav. :D

I saw a fiberglass stock hood for a Comet online (US Body, I think) and they had a lightweight pin on that weighed 19 lbs, and then a street duty version (uses stock hinges and latch) that weighed 30.

I am probably late here, but 93-02 Camaro/Firebirds had fiber doors.
Vettes... most years are fiber, but I think they have gone to plastic nowadays.

My uncle's T-bucket has a thin fiber tub that passes for a body...

I think as long as motorcycles are legal without doors, fiber doors will be just fine... as the 'law' goes.

Now for safety, that's a different story.
But then again, plenty of folks ride cycles, so what's a little fiberglass gonna hurt.

    A good rule of thumb...
    100 lbs = 10 RWHP = .10 second in the quarter

So there is power in them thar lightweight parts!
